Publication of the AGQM Biodiesel Quality Report 2024
In order to achieve the climate protection targets in the transport sector in Germany, the use of climate-friendly biofuels is needed in addition to the switch to electromobility and alternative mobility concepts. These directly reduce greenhouse gases and therefore also address the existing vehicle fleet. Biodiesel (FAME - fatty acid methyl ester) is one of these climate-friendly biofuels and is already making the largest contribution to the decarbonisation of the transport sector.
The Biodiesel Quality Report 2024 from AGQM (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Qualitätsmanagement Biodiesel e.V.) shows the excellent quality of biodiesel from its members in Germany and Austria.
In the area of quality assurance, one of the most important tasks of the AGQM is to carry out unannounced sampling at its members, the producers and traders of biodiesel. Samples are taken directly from ongoing operations and tested for conformity. The results of these inspections are then published anonymously in the annual biodiesel quality report. In 2024, a total of 65 samples with 1,235 test points were analysed, with only three cases where the acceptance limit was exceeded. This underlines the outstanding quality of the biodiesel produced by AGQM members, which is suitable for use both as a pure fuel and in blends.
‘Our unannounced sampling results for the year 2024 once again confirm the exceptionally high quality of biodiesel from AGQM members,’ said Katharina Friedrich, Manager at AGQM. ‘We are proud that the industry is continuously working on its quality standards in order to make a valuable contribution to climate protection in transport.’
