USA increased tariffs on Argentinean biodiesel

The USA have increased the tariffs on Argentinean biodiesel to over 70 percent so that the US market is practically closed to Argentinean exports of this product. They justify the measure with unfair subsidies that Argentina grants to its soybean oil-based biodiesel. Luis Zubizarreta, the head of the Argentinean Chamber of Biofuels (Carbio), sees this decision as unjustified. He urged his country’s government to appeal to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Argentina already won a similar dispute in the WTO with the European Union.
