A little more rapeseed for biodiesel – FNR annual report 2019/2020 published

In 2020, the area under cultivation for renewable raw materials in Germany was an estimated 2.58 million hectares, of which energy crops for biogas plants made up the lion's share with an area under cultivation of 1.55 million hectares. However, rapeseed cultivation for biofuels also increased compared to 2019, by 60,000 hectares to a total of an estimated 575,000 hectares. The increase can be attributed to the increase of the GHG quota to 6% in 2020. The Agency for Renewable Resources (Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V.; FNR) collects the cultivation figures for renewable raw materials in agriculture in its annual report on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). The report for the 2019/20 business year has now been published.
