Cultivation of renewable raw materials in 2019

The Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e. V. (FNR) surveys the cultivation figures of renewable raw materials in agriculture annually on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). A summary of its activities in the past fiscal year 2018/19 can be found in the current annual report, which is now available on the Agency's website. At 2.67 million hectares in 2019, the area under cultivation of renewable raw materials in Germany has slightly decreased compared to 2018. The main reason for this is a reduction in the area under rape seed for biodiesel. Overall, the cultivation of renewable raw materials on approx. 22% of arable land remains a major pillar for farmers.
