Blockade at French oil refineries and fuel depots

French farmers will block oil refineries and fuel depots for three days in protest at plans by the oil and gas major Total to use imported palm oil at a biofuel facility. The French authorities had given Total permission which infuriated farmers who grow local oilseed crops like rapeseed. They see this as unfair competition because palm oil is cheaper than rapeseed oil as a feedstock for biodiesel. With the blockade the farmers want to pressure the government to limit palm oil use.
