Bioenergy industry welcomes further development of greenhouse gas reduction quota

The Bundesrat (upper house of the German parliament) decides to increase the greenhouse gas reduction quota from the current 6% to 25% in 2030 for the transport sector. The German Bioenergy Association (BBE) assumes that the increased greenhouse gas reduction quota will save a total of around 175 million tons of CO₂ in the transport sector by 2030. In addition, higher blending ratios of biodiesel and bioethanol should be permitted in order to achieve the ambitious GHG reduction targets.
